PH is 4th worst country in the world for business

The Philippines is among the worst countries in the world for business, an international business news website said.

Placing the Philippines in fourth place, CNBC listed the 10 most difficult countries to do business in from 50 of the world’s largest economies. The list is based on the World Bank’s 2011 report, “Ease of Doing Business,” which includes 183 countries.

The rankings take into account the ease of starting a business, getting construction permits, paying taxes, investor protection laws, among others.

Pinoy workers planning return to Libya

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines said Friday that many of the thousands of its workers who fled Libya due to unrest this year would likely return now that former leader Moammar Gaddafi has been killed.

“The Philippines congratulates the Libyan people for their latest victory and the total liberation of Libya,” the foreign affairs department said in a statement.

Thousands of Filipinos consider Libya their second home, it added.

“Many hope to return, work, and contribute to the reconstruction and rebuilding of the new Libya,” it said.
